SWAT team arrests man after allegedly threatening to shoot up Austin hotel


AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man is in custody Monday morning after he allegedly went to a northwest Austin hotel and threatened to shoot it up.

Austin police first tweeted that there was a man barricaded in the Extended Stay America hotel near the intersection of U.S. Highway 183 and Farm-to-Market 620 at about 9:55 p.m.

Hotel guests were quickly evacuated by the Austin police SWAT team and the perimeter was secured.

At 2:15 a.m., police tweeted that the man had been taken into custody with no one hurt. There’s no word yet on the man’s motive.
