Survey: Groups oppose tying test scores to graduation

AUSTIN (KXAN) — After months of discussion, new survey results released Wednesday by the Texas Education Agency show how Texans feels about state testing for school students.

The main takeaway in the report, summed up by the state board chair: Too many tests, too much class time on preparation and no immediate results.

Educators, parents, students, business leaders and other groups responded.

In a range of 74 to 86 percent, each group opposed tying assessment test scores to graduation or promoting a student to the next grade.

All groups disagree with using test results as a tool in teacher performance evaluations. To read the full results of the survey click here.
