KIRKLAND, Wa. (KXAN) — The Smithville Junior League Softball team dropped its second contest 10-8 to Europe-Africa at the Junior League World Series.
Representing the Southwest, Smithville led 8-3 in the sixth inning, but Europe-Africa came back with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In pool play, Smithville (1-1) opened the world series with a 6-5 win over Latin America Sunday. The remainder of the schedule matches Smithville up against teams from the United States.
Smithville faces the East team tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. and the West squad Wednesday at 1 p.m.
The quarterfinals begin Thursday.
