Save the music: Austin musicians leaving the city

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin won’t be the live music capital of the world for much longer if we keep losing musicians and music venues, according to Austin Mayor Steve Adler.

Joining us in the KXAN studio to talk about the crisis of music in Austin is Stephen Kinney, the Executive Director of The Front Porch. He is joined by Jennifer Houlihan, the Executive Director of Austin Music People.

The Front Porch is hosting a panel discussion on Thursday to talk about the issues facing Austin musicians. This is a part of their Crisis in Music: Austin Edition series.

The panel discussion is Thursday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the All Saints Episcopal Church on West 27th Street. It is free and open to the public.

The Mayor plans to attend the panel.
