KYLE, Texas (KXAN) – A Round Rock woman who had been on her way to San Marcos in August 2015 has been accused of sideswiping a motorcycle rider, causing him to die at the scene of the crash.

According to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Kelly Lynn Watson turned herself in on Saturday after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

According to the findings of the investigation, Watson was driving to work southbound on I-35 on the morning of Aug. 14, 2015 when she hit 50-year-old James Keith Grear. He was thrown over the median and into the northbound lanes of I-35.

When KXAN reported on this story at the time, Watson was said to have hit a concrete wall, receiving minor injuries.

According to investigators, eight witnesses gave similar statements, saying Watson was driving recklessly before the crash.

Watson showed no evidence of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash and was not arrested until the investigation could prove she was at fault.

Watson is in the Hays County Jail on a second-degree manslaughter charge. Her bond is set at $50,000.
