AUSTIN (KXAN) — Supporters of Rodney Reed continue to push for a review of his case with less than two weeks before his scheduled execution. A jury sentenced Reed to death in 1998 for the killing of Stacey Stites two years before. Supporters gathered Saturday on the south side of the State Capitol.
Kelly Reid traveled to Austin from Canada just to participate in Saturday’s rally. She says Governor Abbott needs to call for a review of his case.
“If he had any integrity, he would do something about this,” Kelly Reid said. “All we’re asking is to test the evidence.”
Rodney Reed’s execution is scheduled for March 5.
