AUSTIN (KXAN) — Former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is expected to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars when the NFL free agency period begins later in March, according to a report by Jeff McLane of Philly.com.
McLane reports Foles will take a lower than market value deal with the Jaguars unless another team emerges before March 13.
The Eagles announced last week that they would not be pursuing the franchise tag on the Westlake High School alum, allowing him to enter free agency.
Foles reportedly has garnered interest from Washington and Miami along with Jacksonville.
The Jaguars believe they’re only a couple missing pieces away from another run at a championship after reaching the AFC Championship game in 2017. Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is still under contract, but the team is expected to move on from the five-year NFL veteran who started 12 games this season but was benched at the end of the season.
Foles led Philadelphia to the Super Bowl in 2017 defeating the New England Patriots and earning Super Bowl MVP honors. This year, Foles filled in at the beginning and end of the season for injured QB Carson Wentz, and went 5-2 as the starter winning a playoff game at Chicago in the wildcard round.
