Recovery aid still available for Blanco River flood survivors

BLANCO COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Survivors of the May and October 2015 floods in Hays, Blanco, Caldwell and Guadalupe counties can still get help for unaddressed flood-related needs.

Thomas Monahan, Executive Director of the Blanco River Regional Recovery Team (BR3T), says even with federal and nonprofit assistance, there are still some who need help rebuilding and furnishing their homes. “The BR3T has a program in place to help those without other resources rebuild their lives,” he said.

Family Endeavors, a national non-profit agency with staff now located in Central Texas, is assisting the BR3T with case management in the four-county area.

A flood survivor can call 512-842-9008 to make an appointment with a Family Endeavors staff member to visit and discuss your needs.

“If you are living in a damaged home, or can’t move back into your home because of damage, or if you need furnishings for your home because of flood damage, I encourage you to call,” Monahan said.

In May, the agency was trying to raise $25 million to $30 million for hundreds of homes that needed major repairs and in some cases need to be replaced.
