Record-breaking catfish caught in Texas lake

“At first I thought it was a log, so I started reeling it in and when it got close to the boat it started going the opposite way and I was like ‘man this is definitely not a log,'” says Russell.

“Oh my gosh.” was what Cayson had to say about his dad’s catch.

The fish took Russell two hours to fillet.

The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife says the previous record for a flathead catfish caught by rod and reel in Lake Brownwood was 31 pounds and 39.50 inches long. It was caught by Darvel Hutchins with a hotdog in 2010.
