Rabid raccoon found in Burnet

BURNET COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A wild raccoon tested positive for rabies in Burnet Thursday, according to the Burnet Police Department.

The Raccoon was found near the 200 block of West Jackson Street at around 8:40 p.m. The animal was tested by the Department of State Health Services and tested positive for rabies.

The police department is urging anyone if they think they have come in contact with the animal to call local animal control at 512-756-6404 or the Texas Department of State Health Services at (254)-778-6744.
