President Trump welcomes Baylor basketball to White House

News

WASHINGTON D.C. (KXAN) — President Donald Trump hosted the Baylor Lady Bears in the Oval Office following the program’s third NCAA women’s basketball national championship.

During the photo opportunity, head coach Kim Mulkey gifted President Trump a personalized Baylor jersey with Trump and the No. 1 on the back.

Trump joked that the sleeveless jersey would let him show off his “toned arms.” Mulkey suggested that it might look better on first lady Melania Trump, according to the Associated Press.

In what is becoming the standard spread when championship teams visit the White House, the President provided Baylor with a lunch of fast-food options. Team members were served fast food options from McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s in the State Dining Room, according to the AP.

Baylor finished the season 37-1 defeating Notre Dame for the national title in April. Mulkey and the Bears also won national championships in 2005 and 2012, and visited the White House following both of those championships.
