AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas is on the home stretch of its demanding March schedule with No. 11 Arkansas and No. 24 TCU waiting this week.
The Longhorns pushed their pitching staff to the limits and added timely hits to earn a series win over No. 11 Texas Tech this weekend at Disch-Falk Field.
By taking two of three games against Tech, Texas (15-7, 2-1 in Big 12) made another move in the polls this week. D1 Baseball ranked the Longhorns ninth. Baseball America bumped the Longhorns all the way up to fourth.
Texas has handled itself well against this difficult schedule of ranked opponents. The Longhorns are 6-4 in their series’ against LSU, Stanford and Texas Tech.
The midweek series against No. 11 Arkansas begins Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and concludes Wednesday. Last season, Arkansas won three games against Texas, sweeping a two-game series in Fayetteville and winning the opener of the College World Series.
Texas sets school-record
The ranked match-up and fairly nice weather brought a lot of people to the park this weekend. Texas announced a total attendance of 22,729 people for the weekend, which is a UT record for a three-game series.
