NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — New Braunfels police have arrested three young men on suspicions that they robbed a convenience store and stole a car.
Detectives detained aggravated robbery suspects Colby Taylor, 21; Nicholas Crespo, 18; and Mykael Bennett, 18. According to police, on March 21 around 1:30 a.m. the three men wearing bandannas to cover their faces, entered a Stripes convenience store. Police say using a baton and firearm, the men demanded money while threatening the store clerk.
After leaving the store on foot, a few hours later a report came in to police of a stolen car on the 1400 block of Astor Creek. The owner of the car told officers he didn’t know it had been taken until San Marcos police called to inform him they found his car and the three males accused of stealing it. Soon after New Braunfels police spoke with San Marcos PD, leading to the discovery that the car thieves matched the descriptions of the convenience store robbers.
Taylor, Crespo, and Bennett were taken into custody by New Braunfels police. Detectives issued warrants and arrested the men, booking them into the Guadalupe County Jail. Each of the men is being held on a $750,000 bond. Additional charges for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle are pending.
