Police searching for convicted killer who burnt girlfriend

AUSTIN (KXAN) – A convicted killer assaulted his girlfriend by holding her arm over a lit gas stove and cutting her hair off with scissors against her will in late June, police said.

Austin police said they are seeking the public’s assistance in finding 49-year-old Emilio Fuentes Castillo who they have charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony, for the June 29 assault that took place at the couple’s Southeast Austin home.

The stove-top burn left one of the victim’s arms blistered. The victim told police Castillo held her arm over the flame for two minutes, according to an arrest warrant.

The victim said the assault began after the couple argued and Castillo went into a “rage.” While the victim screamed for Castillo to stop, he took a pair of scissors, cut the hair from the front and back of her head and then threatened to “shave her head bald,” the affidavit states.

The victim also told police Castillo held a long knife to her and said, “this is going up your throat,” according to the arrest warrant.

Castillo has been arrested multiple times over the 30 years, according to Texas Department of Public Safety records.

In 1985, Castillo was convicted of voluntary manslaughter. Four years later, in 1989, Castillo was convicted of aggravated assault with serious bodily injury and “voluntary murder.” Castillo was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the 1989 incidents. Castillo has also been arrested for assault, criminal mischief and eluding police, according to DPS records.

The latest arrest warrant also states Castillo was arrested for aggravated kidnapping in July 2014.

Anyone with information about Emilio Castillo’s whereabouts is asked to call the Family Violence Unit at 512-974-8535, Crime Stoppers at (512) 472-TIPS or text “Tip 103” + your message to CRIMES. You may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip leads to an arrest or charges being filed. DO NOT approach Castillo. He is considered dangerous
