Police arrest two in connection to murder at San Marcos apartment

SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Authorities have arrested two men Saturday in connection to the murder of a Texas State student at an apartment complex, according to San Marcos police.

San Marcos police  arrested James lee Zapata Jr., 19, and Martin Garcia Jr., 23, on Capital Muder charges. 

SMPD and San Marcos Hays County EMS responded to a call at the 1600 block of Aquarena Springs Drive, Wednesday, Feb. 13, where the Park North Condos are located.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Aaron Jackson Peterman, was found dead in his apartment by a family member with a single gunshot wound.

According to investigators, the murder was connected to a drug-related robbery. 

Garcia and Zapata are currently held in the Hays County Jail. A bond is not set at this time.
