Police arrest 23 during ROT Rally No Refusal

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police say they arrested 23 people for Driving While Intoxicated during the first night of “No Refusal” during the Republic of Texas Motorcycle Rally weekend.

Six drivers provided breath samples. Two others consented to have their blood drawn.

The majority, however, did not consent. Police obtained 14 search warrants, authorizing APD to draw their blood for testing.

Officers also conducted drug examination.

No Refusal continues Saturday night and wraps up at 5 a.m. Sunday morning.

During the 2014 ROT Rally No Refusal weekend, 40 people were arrested for DWI. In 2013, 50 were arrested.
