A truck crashed into a marina on Lake Travis early Friday morning, and the driver left the scene, according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 2:50 a.m. the pickup went off the road, plowed into a building and damaged multiple docked boat at the Riviera Marina, coming to rest on top of one of the watercraft. The marina is at 14297 Farm to Market Road 2769.
Officials are still looking for the driver of the Ford F-150, who ran away from the scene.
Boaters say they weren’t surprised the crash happened. Scott Clitheroe, who’s been using the marina for 10 years says he often sees people speeding around a sharp turn leading up to the marina and having close calls. He also says it’s not uncommon to see drunk drivers in the area.
“Busy weekends when maybe people have been over-served, they sometimes will go around that curve a little fast and hit the gravel and overcorrect, and so I guess it was only a matter of time until that happened,” Clitheroe said.
