AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas baseball needs every game in their weekend series to keep its season alive and they’re not taking any chances on cancellations.

Due to possible severe weather Saturday, the Longhorns and Sooners will play a Friday doubleheader scheduled for 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. finishing the series before the weekend.

Thursday’s series opener start time remains unchanged with first pitch coming shortly after 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Texas needs to win the series against the Sooners and more than likely sweep OU for a chance to extend its season to the Big 12 Tournament next week. The Longhorns, currently ninth place in the Big 12, must move up to eighth for a spot in the conference tourney.
