VIDEO: Whale watchers soaked by humpback happy (or not) to see them

National News

PLEASANT ISLAND, Alaska (KXAN) — Whale watchers in Alaska got a soaking thanks to a humpback whale breaching out of the water next to their boat.

The splash — more like a water cannon — triggered a round of contagious laughter from some of the whale watchers that were farther away from the action.

The video of the happy moment, obtained Wednesday by NBC News, was taken off the coast of Pleasant Island — about 50 miles west of Juneau.
