BENKELMAN, Neb. (KXAN) — A Nebraska state trooper had to quickly maneuver out of the way as a driver in a semi veered into his lane and ran him off the road Monday.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the driver in the 18-wheeler appeared to have suffered a medical issue which caused him to cross the center line on Highway 34 near Benkelman, Neb.
Dash camera footage shows the trooper swerving into the right shoulder as soon as he notices the other driver coming into his lane. “His defensive driving skills prevented an even more severe crash,” wrote the agency in a Facebook post.
The trooper suffered minor injuries and is already back at work.
