Stranded dog rescued from mountain ledge in North Carolina

National News

TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY, North Carolina (WYFF) — A hunting dog that ran away from its owner and became stranded on a North Carolina mountain ledge is back home safe and sound.

Trevor Burrell says he was out bear hunting Saturday with his dog, Princess when she slipped down a hill onto a rock shelf.

The 5-month-old pup was there for nearly two days before rescue crews could trek two miles through the forest and another 400 feet down a steep embankment.

Despite her long ordeal, crews said the Plott Hound seemed fine when she was rescued Monday morning.
