Punxsutawney Phil gets wanted poster after winter storms continue

National News

The wall of a Pennsylvania sheriff’s office is lined with printed-off warrants — but one of them stands out from the rest.

“The subject in question is about 20 inches in length, 22 pounds, he has brown and gray hair, brown eyes, sharp teeth,” said Cpl. Scott Martin with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Instead of a man or woman peering out at deputies from the picture, it’s a groundhog. Punxsutawney Phil, to be exact.

His wanted poster says he’s wanted for “deception” after predicting six more weeks of winter. Those six weeks ended March 16, but the east coast is being hit by yet another nor’easter. Residents are also eager to bring the groundhog to justice.

“I think it’s good,” said Mary Montgomery, who lives in Stroudsburg. “I think that they need to get him, yeah. They need to get him and bring him in ‘cuz we need Spring. We need it now!”

(Before you try to call the number on the wanted poster — it’s fake)
