Polar bear cub born at the Berlin Zoo

National News

BERLIN (KXAN) — The Berlin Zoo is welcoming a newborn polar bear cub into the world Monday.

The first 10-days are key to the survival of the newborn bear, so visitors to the zoo will not be able to see the cub.

Tonja and her new cub won’t leave their enclosure until spring when they will greet the public for the first time.

For the Berlin Zoo, the birth of this cub is a reason to celebrate after their famous polar bear Knut died back in 2011.
