Peacocks put down after neighbor dispute in Tennessee

National News

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WATE)  — A dispute over peacocks in a Tennessee city came to a sad end. The owner says the animals have been put down.

The breeder who owned the bird, Sandy McDaniel, said a new neighbor didn’t like them coming on her property and she didn’t like the noise they made.

The two sides went to court. The neighbor said the McDaniel wasn’t willing to compromise, calling the noise unbearable and affecting property values.

Facing a deadline to fence them in or get rid of the animals, the owner said he wasn’t able to catch them, so putting them down was the only choice.

“We’ve built all kinds of traps and it just hasn’t worked,” McDaniel said, adding that the birds are “like part of the family.”
