PORTLAND, Maine (KXAN) — Their life’s work is to help bring new lives into the world, and now these nurses are helping each other do just that.
Nine nurses at Maine Medical Center’s Labor and Delivery Unit have back-to-back due dates between April and July.
“I feel like every other day we would come into work and it would be like, ‘Someone else is pregnant,’ and then we’d start writing a list,” says Amanda Spear.
Brittney Verville posted a photo with eight of the nine nurses on Facebook. Before long, the post blew up.
“All of a sudden it was at 50 likes, and we’re like, oh my gosh it’s a 50 likes! And then we went to bed because we work night shift. When we woke up we’re like ‘Oh my gosh, I think we’re viral!’“
The hospital responded to some people’s concerns regarding having enough staff in the summer, commenting “Don’t worry! We have a plan.“
