TAMPA, Fla. (KXAN) — Hurricane Michael ripped through communities in Florida, tearing up buildings and leaving trees and power lines toppled in its wake.

WFLA Photojournalist Paul Lamison traveled by helicopter Friday to get a view of some of the damage and response to the storms.

A home on Port St. Joe along the coastline shows the effect of the storm surge, including water that crashed through homes.

Tallahassee Regional Airport became a staging area for part of the relief efforts for hard-hit areas like Mexico Beach.

Apalachicola Airport also became a staging area for the military and first responders.
