GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The family has identified the girl who died after being hit by a vehicle in Grand Rapids, Michigan Tuesday.

Her mother told WOOD that Nevaeh Alston was hit on Bridge Street when she tried crossing the road to feed the homeless who stay near Ah-Nab-Awen Park.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. She was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound between Scribner Avenue and the Grand River bridge.

Nevaeh was rushed to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

The Grand Rapids Police Department said neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be factors in the crash.

GoFundMe page has been started to help the family cover funeral costs.
