It was a long shot, but besides coming away with a victory, the 16th seed in the NCAA tournament also earned the nation some free pizza.
The University of Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers beat the top seed Virginia Cavaliers March 16, with a score of 74-54. Ahead of that competition, Little Caesars Pizza announced it would give away a combo meal if a 16th seed beat a No. 1 seed — essentially, if “CRAZY HAPPENED,” the company tweeted.
Now it’s time for Little Caesar’s to pay up. People can get a free four-inch deep dish pepperoni pizza and a 20 ounce drink Monday, April 2, between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Read the official rules here.
