De-clutter your closet the Marie Kondo Way

National News

(NBC News) — A decluttering craze is sweeping through closets across the United thanks to the Netflix series “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo” and its “KonMari method.”

The process starts with clothes. Decide what to toss by asking one simple question: Does it spark joy?

Konmari converts are generating an early influx of inventory to resale shops.

“Spring cleaning started a lot sooner this year,” says Buffalo Exchange manager Jes Dufresne. “We’ve had people bring in really amazing pieces we might not have seen otherwise without the show.”

Buffalo Exchange offers buy or trade options for unwanted items, a helpful incentive to let go.

You can also sell online on sites like Facebook Marketplace or Poshmark, or donate unwanted items to a charity such as Salvation Army for a tax-deductible contribution.
