TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — For Tim and Angel Wilson, it was video they never thought they’d never see again.
It was the happiest days of their lives: their wedding day. They wanted to capture their nuptials in a very unique way, so they got out their GoPro and had their four-legged family member play the part of the photographer.
Then, a short time later, the newlyweds were vacationing in Florida.
Out came the GoPro once again, but it was soon gone during a paddle-boarding mishap near Venice.
Their wedding memories sunk into the murky water. The couple returned to Gainesville heartbroken.
“I was like, ‘Awww. There it goes,'” Angel Wilson said.
Enter Jeff Heim, a Tampa diver who was enjoying his time in the water over this past holiday weekend.
He saw something shiny lodged between rocks. He dug down deeper and found something interesting: a GoPro.
Turns out, it held the memories from the Wilson’s wedding day and the memory card still worked.
“I knew the pictures were pretty sentimental, and myself losing three GoPros, I kn ow they would probably want it back,” Jeff said. That’s when the 22-year-old took to Twitter to notify the newlyweds.
And, it worked.
Countless retweets, including one from the GoPro company, would lead to a reunion.
“I am so excited, they seem like really nice people,” Jeff said.
The groom was thrilled. “You know, you’ve just got to give people the benefit of the doubt. Because there’s a lot of good people out there, and this is one.”
Turns out, the timing is perfect.
The couple is celebrating their one year wedding anniversary and they’ll be able to look back at a day they’ll never forget.
