PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (KXAN) — An animal services operation in Florida and other shelters across the country are using facial recognition software to bring lost pets home.
The smartphone app “Finding Rover” uses the software to recognize and reunite lost pets.
So, if your pet goes missing, upload a photo and create a profile. The app then cross-references your pet’s unique features with pets already in the system to find a match.
It also works in reverse if you find an animal to see if it’s listed as lost.
It’s not just for shelters. Animal lovers use the tool to help reunite pets with their families.
There’s also an area on the app to find pets up for adoption.
