PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. (WMBB) — A man recently caught the largest blue catfish ever recorded in the state of Florida in the Choctawhatchee River, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The massive blue catfish weighs nearly twice the current state 69.5-pound record for this species. The fish was caught in the Panhandle area of the state.

When Joel Singletary found a 120-pounder on his trotline, he wondered how he was going to get the fish on his boat.

“It wasn’t long until his adrenaline kicked in, enabling him to pull the behemoth fish onboard,” FWC officials wrote on their Facebook page.

However, since it was caught on a trotline, it does not qualify as a state record, officials added.
