TORRANCE (KXAN) — Acura is voluntarily recalling approximately 323,000 of its 2014-2019 MDX SUVs for the potential for their brake lights to short out. This would make the vehicle harder to see at night and increase the chance of a crash.

In a statement, Acura says due to body variation in tailgate manufacturing, a seal on the rear tailgate could become deformed and allow water to leak into the lights and reach the electrical components.

Acura hasn’t received any reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue.

Owners of the affected vehicles can take them in to be checked and dealers will replace the parts that are needed.

There will also be a mailed notification sent out to owners in early May 2019.
