Museums hope Sunday’s crowds beat last year for Austin Museum Day

AUSTIN (KXAN) – It was a good day for a free family outing Sunday as nearly 40 museums across the city offered free admission for Austin Museum Day.

The Austin Museum Partnership has been hosting the event for 20 years in hopes to get more people involved, and learn more about what you might be interested in.

“The idea behind Austin Museum Day is that we offer so many incredible museums around the city but that sometimes the admission fees can get in the way,” said Alex Morrison, who is with the Austin Museum Partnership. “And we really want all of our museums to showcase the incredible exhibits that they have.

Last year more than 28,000 people took part in the day.

The partnership hopes through a digital push that this year will end up being a bigger success.
