AUSTIN (KXAN) — A pensive Matthew McConaughey shared his thoughts at UT football practice Thursday morning, saying, “It’s exciting times, but it’s time to turn the page, and I think the page is being turned.”
In a video shared by Texas Football on Twitter, the Oscar winner — described by UT as “family” — said, “I don’t have many affiliations. I got God, I got my family, I got America, and I got Texas, and I got the Longhorns.”
He said, “This is one of those things that’s non-negotiable for me wherever I go.”
McConaughey said the ambiance of the team was different Thursday than it was in years past. “No one needed a kickstart, so the energy was good.”
The Longhorns’ season opener will be against the University of Maryland, College Park on Sept. 1 in Landover, Maryland.
