Man suffers head trauma after assault at the Domain

Bobby Griffin III, 27, charged with assault in parking lot of Domain on April 4, 2016_290328

AUSTIN (KXAN) — An assault victim suffered massive internal bleeding in his brain after he was beaten by a man leaving Kung Fu Saloon at the Domain shopping center, according to an arrest warrant.

While the victim can’t remember what happened to him that night, police say several witnesses saw the assault. A witness account in the affidavit stated the victim and a friend were leaving the Domain April 15, when a fight broke out in the parking garage. The witness told police the suspect, Bobby Griffin, 27, allegedly passed by “giving them a mean look.” When the witness asked what he was looking at, Griffin got out of truck and began yelling and circling around them like he was ready to fight, continued in the affidavit.

Police say Griffin punched the victim twice, but after the second hit the victim didn’t get back up. The victim’s friend was able to stop Griffin for a short period of time but then the suspect’s friend jumped in to fight as well, according to court documents. The suspect and his friend left after a person trying to leave the parking garage started yelling at them. A friend of the victim said the guy involved was Griffin.

The day after the assault, the victim, complaining about a headache, went to the hospital where a C.T. scan showed he suffered an internal injury with his brain partly covered in blood.

Once arrested, Griffin faces a second degree felony for aggravated assault and a $75,000 bond.
