AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are looking for a suspect after a man was shot at an apartment complex Sunday night.

Police said it happened around 9:36 p.m. at 300 Carmen Court in central Austin, just next to the Interstate 35 and US 183 interchange. Officers responded to the scene after 911 dispatchers received several calls reporting multiple shots fired.

When they arrived, officers found a man, identified as Michael Blaylock, 26, with at least one gunshot wound. Austin-Travis County EMS arrived and began trying to resuscitate the man. Medics took Blaylock to University Medical Center Brackenridge where he died.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death a homicide. Homicide detectives, who believe the victim and suspect knew each other, are interviewing witnesses.

While the suspect has not yet been identified or caught, investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
