AUSTIN (KXAN) — A California man will spend the rest of his life in prison for stabbing and killing his Austin girlfriend in 2014.
Last week, a jury found Joseph Karr, 55, guilty of killing 43-year-old Kelly Turner.
On Nov. 1, 2014, police say Karr killed Turner after a night out on the town with friends. About an hour after getting back to the house, the friends say they heard Turner screaming. When they went to see what was wrong, they told police that Karr was holding a knife and said “I can’t believe I killed her.” At the time, a friend of Karr and Turner told KXAN the two were dating and and vising Austin to see their friends and to celebrate Halloween.
Karr tried to run, but authorities found him later that day in a field in Hays County with a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
