Lunar New Year celebrated at Austin airport

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Travelers at Austin Bergstrom International Airport were greeted with the sounds of the Chinese New Year.

Celebrating the Year of the Monkey, modern and traditional Chinese music was performed by local musicians live at the airport.

The performances featured music from Chinese pop to traditional art songs.

On Saturday, the Asian American Cultural Center, 11713 Jollyville Rd., will also host a Lunar New Year festival. There will be Asian dances, music, martial arts demonstration, calligraphy and the traditional Lunar New Year foods.

It runs from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission is free.
