Longhorns pull away in fourth for win over Sooners

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Longhorns junior Alecia “Sug” Sutton took over after the Longhorns saw their lead over Oklahoma dwindle down to two in the fourth quarter.

With Texas leading 61-59, Sutton scored five straight as the Longhorns pulled away for a 73-63 win over the Sooners.

After scoring a career-high 19 points Sunday at West Virginia, Sutton struggled for most of the night finishing with seven points . Destiny Littleton picked up where she left off in Morgantown as the Longhorns leading scorer with 15.

The Longhorns got key contributions inside from Joyner Holmes and Jatarie White. Holmes notched a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. White came off the bench to contribute 13 points in 22 minutes.

Texas faces a tough challenge Saturday at Iowa State. It will be a meeting between 3-0 teams in the Big 12. Iowa State is on a seven-game winning streak.
