Longhorns need second half run to knock off UL Monroe

AUSTIN (KXAN) The Texas Longhorns and UL Monroe Warhawks played even for 24 minutes before Texas used a 16-0 run on their way to 1 65-55 win.  Elijah Mitrou-Long’s three pointer with 12:09 to go in the game gave Texas the 46-43 lead and extended it to 59-43.

The Longhorns struggled offensively, shooting just 42% from the field and 6-25 from three.  Senior Kerwin Roach led three Longhorns in double figures with 13 points and six assists.  Dylan Osetkowski had 12 points, and a team high 10 rebounds while freshman Jaxson Hayes scored 11 points and had three blocked shots.

UL Monroe was led by Michael Ertel’s 16 points, but shot but shot 37% as a team and turned it over 15 times.

Texas improves to 3-0 and host The Citadel on Friday night before heading to the Las Vegas Classic over Thanksgiving.
