Longhorns look to close season with a championhip

NEW YORK CITY (KXAN) — The Texas Longhorns will try to close their season they way the started it, on a five game win streak.

Texas (20-12) will take on Lipcomb (29-7) Tuesday evening for the NIT Championhip. The Bison, a small private school in Nashville, Tennessee with an enrollment of less than 3,000 students beat Wichita State on Tuesday before UT’s win over TCU.

Texas beat Lipscomb in a regular season game last season at the Erwin Center 80-57.  The Longhorns will need to continue to play outstanding defense, Lipscomb averages more than 83 points per game with Garrison Matthews leading the way, averaging 21 points per game.

Texas has been led by seniors Dylan Osetkowski on this NIT run, the two are averaging a combined 32 points per game.  

Texas is looking for their 2nd NIT Championship, they also won it in 1978.
