Two people killed in a crash on US 183 north of Liberty Hill on March 21, 2018

The driver and passenger of a Cadillac CTS who died following a multi-car collision on US Highway 183 were identified Friday.

Norman Hashim, 48, and Theresa Burton, 79, died at the scene. According to the Department of Public Safety, they were driving south on US 183 on Christine Lane near Liberty Hill Wednesday around 5:08 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado heading northbound swerved in its lane to avoid another vehicle and hit a Jeep Grand Cherokee. That Jeep careened across the center line and hit the Cadillac head-on, which then hit another car, a Chevrolet Impala.

The extent of the other drivers’ injuries isn’t known at this time, but at least one person was taken to the hospital. The collision closed US 183 for two hours.
