Round Rock Express gifts police new K-9

Williamson County
Round Rock Express with Vada K-9

The Round Rock Police Department has a new K-9 addition thanks to the generosity of the owners of the Round Rock Express.

The team’s owners, Don and Bret Sanders, invested in a 22-month-old Belgian Malinois named Vada and donated it to the department on the team’s behalf. When RRPD’s K-9 Dega died from health complications last year, the Sanders’ wanted to help the department get a new dog.

“This is just a small token of our appreciation for everything that RRPD does to keep not only Dell Diamond, but the entire City of Round Rock safe on a daily basis,” Bret Sanders said in a press release.

Vada is currently working on her searching and tracking skills. This spring, she was certified to detect the odor of various narcotics.

Officer Robert Ramos is her handler and says the new addition has been amazing. “She has surpassed my expectations and I could not be happier with her performance and where we are as a K-9 team,” Ramos said.

Express fans will get a chance to meet Vada on Sunday, May 6 during Bark in the Park at Dell Diamond.
