LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — A Leander man got the upper hand on a would-be thief, after holding the suspect at gunpoint as he allegedly attempted to break into the man’s garage, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

A Williamson County deputy was sent to investigate a theft in progress Tuesday on Lakewood Trail in southeast Leander.

According to the officer, when he arrived at the scene, he found the victim holding the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Yew Kyaw, at gunpoint.

The victim told the officer that he witnessed Kyaw attempt to enter his parked car by lifting the door handles. He said he then witness Kyaw enter his garage through the side door.

Once detained, police say Kyaw confessed to attempted theft.
