GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — A man has been arrested and faces 15 charges of animal cruelty related to a case where 14 animals were found dead on a property near Georgetown.

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office found the dead animals, as well as 39 other dogs, cats and birds, on the property on Private Road 914 in a rural area north of Georgetown at the end of July. The landowner told deputies his tenant, Jeffrey Dollard, had been in the hospital after having a heart attack.

Now, 58-year-old Dollard faces 15 cruelty to non-livestock animal charges. He was booked on Aug. 15 and released on bond that same day, according to jail records.

Many of the animals were taken to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, where they were cared for and later put up for adoption.
