Family searching for dog after loved one killed in Liberty Hill crash

Williamson County

LIBERTY HILL, Texas (KXAN) — For the past four years, Katie Kerr and her Pointer Probie were inseparable. That changed Sunday when the two were traveling together along Highway 29 in Liberty Hill.

Two cars hit Katie head-on in a violent crash that killed her. Probie survived, but ran away.

“Those ambulances were flying down the toll and I just did a little prayer right then,” said Amy Lessmann. She was nearby when the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. and is now leading the search to get Probie back to Kerr’s family.

“To know that you no longer have your sister, or your daughter, or your granddaughter, or your cousin, but, if you could have her dog, it gets you in the heart.”

The family’s started a Facebook page, Help Find Probie, to organize searches. It’s also received multiple reports of sightings, but so far Probie has remained elusive.

“I would be failing her on so many levels if I didn’t try to find him,” said Raina Kerr, Katie’s mother.

Kerr’s family doesn’t live in the area but has been driving out to Liberty Hill every time there’s a sighting.

“She was taken from me in an instant and I can’t change that, but when Probie comes back, then things will be starting to get more right,” Raina Kerr said.

Katie Kerr, who was 33 years-old, took Probie in as a puppy and the two rarely left each other’s side.
