JARRELL, Texas (KXAN) — A 4-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after spending nearly an hour inside a locked car Thursday afternoon.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 2 p.m. about a boy trapped inside a locked vehicle off Sandstone Drive in Jarrell.

A neighbor who saw the child inside the vehicle made the call. When authorities arrived on scene they found the boy’s mother asleep inside the house.

The mother claims her son must have got out of the house and found his way into the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office says the window of the vehicle was slightly cracked which made it easier for firefighters to get the child out quickly.

The boy was in stable condition when authorities got him out of the car, and he was taken to the children’s hospital in Temple for observation.

Deputies are still investigating whether or not any charges will be brought against the mother. She is not in custody at this time.
