PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — A typo in the local paper advertising the Pflugerville Public Library’s Anti Prom event pushed the Austin-area library into the national spotlight.
The local newspaper advertised the library’s event — aimed at being an alternative, safe space for young people regardless of their sexuality, gender identity or beliefs — as having “snakes” (instead of “snacks”) available.
A photo of the newspaper clipping quickly spread, with over 3,000 likes on Facebook.
The library quickly responded via social media, saying:
“There was a typo in a local paper that said we will have snakes. We will have snacks. Snacks is what we will have.”
The Anti Prom will be held Friday.
