The Pflugerville Independent School District is making some slight changes to its school start times for the upcoming 2018-19 school year.
Middle schoolers will be happy since they’ll get an extra 15 minutes of sleep. Currently, middle schools start at 8:05 a.m., but starting next year school won’t start until 8:20 a.m. Dismissal will still be at 3:35 p.m.
Elementary campuses will begin at 7:35 a.m. (instead of 7:40 a.m.) and end at 2:50 p.m.
High schools will remain the same, with a 9 a.m. start time and a 4:15 p.m. end time.
“These slight adjustments give our students more learning time, allow for optimal transportation time, and also give the district a buffer in case of unanticipated closures due to weather or other emergencies,” said Brandy Baker, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction.
Elementary students can be dropped off at 7:05 a.m., and middle school students can be dropped off at 7:55 a.m. prior to the start of school. Drop-off time for high school is 8:30 a.m.
